Wines in Château Victoria
Victoria II is the second wine of Château Victoria and it is the result of dedicated teamwork. The harvest starts only when the grapes reach optimum ripeness and then winemaking is carried out under the careful supervision of the cellar-master. The goal is to capture the spirit and ardour of the young grapes along with their outstanding red fruit flavours.
65% Cabernet Sauvignon Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot
Soils : chalky-clay with some sand
Plant population density : 6,500- 8,200 vines/hectare
Yield : 36 hl/hectare
Average age of vines : 35-40 years
Pruning : Double Guyot
Vinification by separate plots
Cold maceration for 4-5 days at 10-12°C to extract and stabilise the fruit aromas
3 to 4 weeks vatting for alcoholic fermentation at 24-26°C
Free run juice goes directly into vats for malolactic fermentation
Press juices are carefully selected according to 4 quality levels
12 months in barrels
It will pair perfectly with grilled meats, roast partridge or lamb.

A cold and tortuous spring (coulure, poor fruit set and late flowering) was followed by a good sunny summer despite some hail and delayed crop ripening. The harvest was also quite late with abnormally low yields. Fortunately the vintage was saved thanks to unbroken sunshine and no summer rain.
